Green Week | Day 4 ☕ Today, we're shining a light on the @killarneycoffeecupproject — a brilliant local effort making a real difference when it comes to reducing single-use waste. Launched in July 2023, the project encourages people to either bring their own reusable cup or use the handy deposit and return system. For just a €2 refundable deposit, you can borrow a cup from any participating café or hotel and return it to any other in the network — simple as that. It’s estimated that this small change could cut out over one million single-use coffee cups every year — that’s around 18.5 tonnes of waste avoided. By reusing instead of tossing, we’re helping to keep Killarney clean and green, and protecting the beautiful National Park we’re lucky to call home. ♻️
As part of Green Week, we joined forces with Killarney Mountain Meitheal yesterday to help clear rhododendron 🌿 This invasive shrub is spreading across the park, blocking tree regeneration and shading out the native plants and animals that make Killarney so special.
