Phase one
Bespoke oak flooring creates a warm, natural finish while the seating area includes contemporary armchairs creating a nook for relaxation and in some bedrooms, there is a loveseat in high grade mohair velvet.
There is a streamlined writing desk with grade 7 quartz and ample lighting options including an elegant table lamp.
Gaze out the window of the Heritage Bedrooms, and you’ll find the geometric patterns of the curtains echoing the striking architecture of Muckross House. Our locally made furniture, featuring stone tops, pays homage to the karst landscapes of MacGillycuddy’s Reeks.
Artwork adorns the walls by local artist, Bernadette Kennedy residing in Portmagee, Co. Kerry.
Phase two
The second phase of the Heritage Bedroom Collection immerses guests in the energy of Killarney National Park, evoking the beauty of a late summer’s evening. Majestic stags and elegant swans are intricately woven into the headboard design, each telling a story of the park’s wildlife. Stags roam the park year-round, but during the rutting season in October and November, they become especially prominent as they compete for mates. Swans, with their regal presence, glide gracefully across Lough Leane near Ross Castle, their elegance mirrored by the grand backdrop of the historic fortress.
Bees and butterflies are thoughtfully woven into the room’s design. Some rooms feature curtains with the same elegant geometric pattern from the first phase, while others showcase delicate bee motifs, perfectly complemented by matching cushions. A beautifully crafted butterfly ornament graces the dresser, alongside a jewellery casket adorned with intricate bee detailing.
Phase three
The third phase of the Heritage Bedroom Collection, launched in February, brings reminds us of spring in the National Park. The colour palette reflects the soft, earthy tones of the valley at Ladies View, with blush pinks, warm browns, and gentle hues evoking the landscape at dawn. Flowing curtain fabrics mimic the movement of water, capturing the rippling effect seen on Killarney’s lakes. Regal and elusive hares, frozen in the morning mist, add a sense of quiet wonder to the space. Antique mirrors pay homage to the Meeting of the Waters at Dinis, mirroring the reflective beauty of the lakes.
A nod to Killarney’s wildlife runs throughout all of the designs. Honeycomb-patterned wallpaper again pays tribute to the bees, not only a vital part of nature but also honoured in the ancient Brehon Laws, where they were protected and valued for their role in the ecosystem. We see the delicate butterfly motif on the dining table again, this rolling theme of nature and tradition creates a seamless link between the rooms and the breathtaking landscape beyond.
